Guys straightening hair?

I've been straightening my hair since May. I'm very pleased with how it looks, but it gets to be a pain when I have to dry and straighten it EVERY night when in school. So that's why I wanna get it chemically straightened, that way I don't have to straighten it every night, which does more damage than getting it chemically done can ever do. I was told in a weird voice by my MOM, "I don't think that many guys /chemically/ straighten their hair..." and that my hair's not "long" enough for it.

So my question is..

Is chemically straightening hair worth it, and what's the general price for it?

It is definitely worth it although a good treatment is pretty expensive cuz you have to make sure a deep conditioning mask is included in the process or you'll hair will get dry and really icky...

Should be $150-$300...

Personally, my preferred place would be Toni and Guy's...but a lot of my friends have gotten really good results at Visible Changes

You know, this is funny, because one of my best guy friends came over this afternoon with his hair chemically straightened.

However..if your hair is colored it can pretty much damage it, but if not...you should be ok.

Well it all depends on the texture of your hair, if it's super curly, the price goes up. A good stylist would charge about $60+ for chemically straightening it. But if you want to do a Japanese straightening treatment (lasts for 6 months to a year with washing] it's going to cost you $600 to $1000. If you hair isn't that long, I don't think you should chemically straighten it because if you later decide you want it to grow, the hair will have a hard time doing that. Honestly, straight hairs overrated.

as a guy....i would say it would be all right for you to chemically straighten it

because you straighten it every day/night no one would notice any change...just don't go telling people/friends what you do to your hair

no its really bad for your hair its like taking a gun and shooting your hair with it ... even you straightening your hair now will cause it too look like gross split ends and it will just look like a homeless persons hair so i suggest stop straightening it now and go natural ... maybe straighten it once in a while because if you do it a lot expect ugly hair i had it once because i was like you ... i know better now and i also wanted to chemically straighten my hair but i learned that its the most terrible thing you can ever do to your hair so just stay away from that hope i helped - laurena

well it depends on your hair if your hair isnt healthy in the first place then no.

use manage damage shampoo and use heat protecting spray when blowdrying it and using a flat iron
