Question on straightening hair...?

When I try straightening my hair, it doesn't last very long. It goes right back to being curly. Is there anything I could do to make it last longer? Anything, like tips?

Question on straightening hair...?

Make sure you're using a high-heat straightener. Also, have you tried blowing your hair out with a round brush and a high-power blow dryer?

I also have curly hair, but I love to straighten it. A few little tips that might help you out...

- Use a shampoo designed for "silky" or "straight" hair, like made by Sunsilk. I have to say, it really did help.

- Product is so important. Use a straightening serum that is activated by the heat of your flat iron.

- I have to say, my straightened hair was changed so much by ONE Aveda product. It makes my coarse hair smooth and really keeps it in place even during the most humid days. Most definitely worse spending the money... Changed the way my hair look. http://www.aveda.com/templates/products/...

P.S. Don't straighten your hair too much. When stylists say it damages your hair, it really does. So, keep it to a minimum and be sure to condition the hell out of your hair whenever you can!

Question on straightening hair...?

Dont straighten it... curly hair is hot

Question on straightening hair...?

if you have the money get it chemically starightened

Question on straightening hair...?

well it may sound like alot of work but blow drying it straight and then straightening it would be the best choice. just dont do it everyday...

Question on straightening hair...?

use treseme or toni %26amp; guy

Question on straightening hair...?

try blowdrying it straight first and then using a stratening iron. Also blowdry it until its comepletly dry

Question on straightening hair...?

Blow dry it straight then use an iron?

Question on straightening hair...?

go to a salon and ask fer a japanese perm.

its like a regular perm only there making yer hair straight for a while.

Question on straightening hair...?

leave the iron on longer until you start smelling the heat of the hair.

Question on straightening hair...?

keep going over your hair with the straightener many times...and turn it to its highest settings. then i think there is like a straightening cream you can buy. =]

Question on straightening hair...?

If your hair is "gay" you're stuck with it. Better to focus on learning to live with it and try to be straight when you simply have to in social or work situations. There is nothing wrong with "gay" hair---just a different kind of lifestyle.

Question on straightening hair...?

I have the opposite problem...my hair never seems to stay curly when I curl it. Sometimes I hair just isn't meant to do what you want it to unless you have some heavy duty hair products.

Question on straightening hair...?

It is really hard to straighent curly hair, even with a professional straightener. your best bet would be to get a reverse perm but it is really hard on the hair.

Question on straightening hair...?

Straighten really slow. It should steam if you are doing it right. Use super hold hairspray and comb it out as you go.

Question on straightening hair...?

Get a good pair of straighteners like GHDS, your hair should stay staright for about 2 days

Question on straightening hair...?

try straightenin it while its still damp and use a lot of hairspray that wut i do

Question on straightening hair...?

Use some hold spray.

My mum has really thick curly hair and she used sprays from saloons or Tresemme.

Question on straightening hair...?

There are some types of gels ond sprays that work for some girls but usually there's nothing you can do. There's nothing wrong with curly hair!

Question on straightening hair...?

i have the chi and my hair stays straight all night long. it last until you wash it.

its a pricey straightener but its worth it.

Question on straightening hair...?

hairspray works, but spray then straighten or your hair will like clump together..also..like a straightening condtitioner and lotion..i have one from Schwartz Kopf and its great

Question on straightening hair...?

How exactly do YOU do it? Mine lasts long and this is how I do it:

1. put straightening serum or balm in damp hair

2.blow dry or air dry hair

3. straighten

Also wash the conditioner out of your hair with cold water while working out the tangles and it will be less frizzy. So called frizz removal shapoos rarely work on anyone. Don't use a brush either, use your fingers to comb it.

Question on straightening hair...?

Have you tried a straightening iron? I bought a "Chi" which is supposably one of the best. My hairdresser puts a little "bed head After Party" on when it's dry-just one drop! She uses about 3 drops when it's wet before she blowdries. Then uses the flatiron. I never get it like she does and with curly hair, it never lasts if you live in a humid environment! I just give up and wear it curly if it is supposed to rain.

Question on straightening hair...?

Are you using a flat iron to straighten it or just blow drying it straight? If you use a flat iron and a good straightening serum, such as CHI, it should remain straight until you get it wet again. Make sure your hair is completely dry before ironing it and put the serum on each strand as you iron it. Also make sure you're not putting too much hair through the iron at one time. The less, the better. And keep from running your fingers through your hair when it's straight. For some reason is seems to make it frizz a bit.

Question on straightening hair...?

you might need a better straightener also use hairspray before you straighten it and after. also herbal essances has a shampoo and conditioner in a pink bottle called dangerously straight which really helps me. they also have that in a spray bottle and just use it when you finish your hair. it works.

Question on straightening hair...?

I have curls, I used to have the same problem. It's a bit pricey but you should try a HotTools brand flattening iron. Even pricier, though, hairdressers have some Japanese straightener that they put on your hair...it either last months or years...I really don't know. But my hair is curly all of the time, because my hair looks better that way.

Question on straightening hair...?

if u have the moolah, get chemically straightened. less moolah, get a CHI they work wonders! My sis has very very curly hair and it stays straight for about 5 hours!

Question on straightening hair...?

My hair is the same way. What works for my hair is to use some kind of defrizz serum (frizz-eas) first. Then use a serum that protects against heat damage (V05). THen I blow dry it. If that still doesnt work then after blowdrying straighten it.

Question on straightening hair...?

try using a shampoo and condition as well as the line of products... I use sleek and shine (orange bottle at professional place)... I use a flat iron and a finishing spray...

Good luck

Question on straightening hair...?

ok i do this all the time.... what i do is I.....

1).wash my hair befor i go to bed (dont blowdrie it or anything just let it air dry)

2)then i get up the next morning and i add some sunsilk (its like sunsilk straighten up. or somthin like that)

3) then i get my straightner and (it says for curly to thick hair turn up to 18 but i would go a little higher)

4) then i straighten it

5)then i add some sunsilk again

6)and then light hair spray.

7)then offf i go (ALSO bring some sunsilk with just incase u feel a frizz coming on.)

8) but dont add to much or it will make ur hair look really greasey.also this can take u about 20-30 min in the morning ..so make sure u have a enough time.

9)my advice is to try this on a day where u have no plans just incase it dosnt work out. cuz then u can go and redo ur hair

Best of luck though.

Happy New Years

Question on straightening hair...?

To keep hair straight until the next time you wash it, you'll need the following products:

hairdryer

paddle brush (a flat, sqaure hairbrush)

3 large hair clips or banana clips

straightening shampoo and conditioner

straightening balm or mousse

frizz ease hair serum (yes, this one too)

smoothing cream

straightening/flat iron

First, wash your hair with straightening shampoo and conditioner. Towel dry hair.

Next, apply straightening balm or mousse to the entire length of your hair and brush through. This will help to make your hair more manageable. Also, apply a quarter size dallop of frizz ease hair serum to your hair. The frizz ease hair serum will help eliminate frizz, not straighten hair.

Then, separate your hair into 4 even sections: 2 in front on top, and 2 in back of your head. Clip up 3 of the sections and leave 1 of the sections down in the back. Using the paddle brush, aim the hairdryer down onto the hair as you run the brush through your hair. Continue until the section is dry, the move onto the other section in the back. Do this to your entire head until all 4 sections are dry.

Next, using the straightening iron, run the straightening iron down 2 inch sections of hair. Start at the back and work your way forward. Or to save time, just do the top sections of your hair and the hair that frames the face.

Finish the look by taking small amounts of finishing cream and smoothing it onto your hair. This will help keep the style looking shiny.

Question on straightening hair...?

Use a straightening cream on your hair, this will stop it curling after the event. Boots make a decent one for not much money. It is yellow and in a clean chunky toothpaste style tube. This should also protect yourhair. Do take a lot of care not to overstraighten your hair, some curling tongs are very hot and do a lot of damage. I have heard of people losing all their hair this way and having to have extensions.
