Tips for straightening my hair with a straightener?

I love straightening my hair, i dont have naturally curly hair, but straightening it just make it look so much better. I have a really good straightener...but im just not good at making my hair look good. I see all of these people walking around with their hair straightend so perfectly and it looks so nice and well-done. But i just cant seem to make my hair look like that. My hair lays right on my shoulders and i have a couple of layers, the shortest one stopping right below my ear..I have tried using Sunsilk straightening shampoo and some kind of stuff you put on your hair before you blowdry it, thats supposed to make it straighten better. But my hair always starts flipping out, frizzing, or getting really static-y.. My hair isnt think but it isnt super thick either. Please help me out here!

I am addicted to straightening my hair as well. The key is to separate into small sections.

This is what I do:

Separate my hair into four sections and put them into ponytails.

Take one ponytail at a time and separate that with a comb, use a fishie clip to hold the other hair up so you can get to the root. Start from the root and work your way down to the ends. Go over it twice.

Try a serum to take out any frizz. John Frieda "Frizz Ease" works great.

Well the static will go away. Straighten it at night, then sleeping on it will make it flaten up. Take your hair by little strands, brush a couple of times and straighten little pieces slow. Next time you get your hair cut, ask her to straighten it and watch her. Its really easy. I have done it for a while. Get something to protect your hair like Vo5. Im me if you need more details.

straighten if slowly down, and comb as you do every section of hair. do it once, let it sit for a while.. then right before you go out do it again so you get any part u missed before straightened. also, blow dry it right before you straighten it.. it makes it look a lot better... but trust me on this.. when i was in middle/highschool i would straighten my hair everyday.. then my hair got thin and horrible.. so dried out!!!! my hairdresser actually realized and told me to stop for a while before i couldn't fix it.. i barely straightened all summer and conditioned my hair.. and thankfully it's back to it's normal thickness.. but PLEASE only straighten at most twice a week!!! i know i liked how it looked then, but it's not worth it in the long run!! blow dry it.. it looks better anyway.. do it with a round brush.. it gives it a lot more volume, and it's better for your hair.. that's what the hair cutters do

Well I always straighten different layers seperately...like I make a part around my head, clip up that top section and straighten the bottom, then let some more down, straighten that layer, ect. Also, when you straighten, make sure you pull it down slowly and steadily, and go all the way straight down the hair. After I straighten I spray some frizz elimination stuff on.

I take a shower the night before, and after showering I spray some stuff on my hair that also helps with frizz.

Well I am also someone who loves to straighten their hair! But I have to because mine is a mess with out it. What i use is a spary that protects your hair from the heat of the straightener. I particuraly like Soya Want Flat Hair Flat Iron Spray, but You can probally find a brand that you like. It is just like a protection of the heat so the heat doesnt damage your hair. It works very well. You can just buy it at your local hair salon. Hope I helped!

After straightening hair, use a hair smoothe balm, apply a small amount in your hand rub it together then just apply through the hair and give it a light brush with a paddle brush, key is a small amount otherwise you can make your hair lank and greasy!. finish of with hairspray spraying over your head in a halo like motion.

wat i do is when dry, i put my hair up in a ponytail and take little pieces out of the ponytail at a time. each section i take from the ponytail, i straighten nice and slow. it usually takes me about 30 minutes and i have EXTREMELY thick hair. i cure static by spraying hair spray in my brush and then brushing my hair. it evenly goes in my hair and doesnt get all dry and icky. good luck!

First, use a good straightener. The hotter the better as this will keep moisture and humidity locked out. Second, start at the bottom of your head taking your hair in small sections, piecing it a little at a time %26amp; straightening it. Small sections work better because the heat needs to spread out evenly. Start at the top of the section %26amp; slowly move the straightener to the end of the hair. Just keep doing this until all the hair has been straightened.

I have a natural wave in my hair and have always wanted to have smooth, straight hair. I would use a straightener and every product imaginable. After one hour my hair would start to get static-y and frizzy. My hair is not very thick but but the natural wave and body makes it look that way. And I found that using a straightener over and over was stripping my hair of the natural oils that protect it, leaving it brittle and dry.

I have had my hair professionally straightened, as well as done it myself at home. Each time lasted about three months, like a perm would, and without any permanent damage to my hair. I liked having a new look.

You should be really careful when using a straightener. If you use it too much you can damage your hair and after a while you will not be able to get it to be smooth no matter how hard you try.

My best advice is to ask a professional -- or even more than one -- so that you can achieve that pretty, smooth look without doing a whole lot of permanent damage.

Good luck.

Hopefully your flat iron is a "chi" brand it gets to between 350-400 degrees. You need to blowdry your hair smooth, "chi" brushes are great..use a large round one or a paddle brush. Aveda Hang Straight works good to help smooth the hair, use a thermal protectant of some kind..this will protect, add shine, and some will give the hair a little hold/styling memory. section the hair off, and run the flat iron scalp to ends (flick or bevil the ends under or if you prefer up) take approx. 1 inch sections start at nape work up to top layer. good luck

I am one of those people who you probably see in stores with their hair perfectly straight but what i do is when i take a shower i use the hair straightening solution from pantene then i have my brush in the shower and before i wash out the shampoo i brush my hair then i wash the shampoo out. Then after I blow dry my hair i brush my hair again with a comb this time and then i put in leave in conditioner.do this for @ least 3 days straight and then you can see your hair straightening. P.S. I have three layers so it works for layered hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

use tresemme anti frizz secret its available at wal mart it works great !!!

straighten your hair one part at a time, once your satisfied with that strand of hair move on. It probably flips out because you move your straightener that way, instead when you straighten make sure your are turning the straightener in, instead of out.

Tips for straightening my hair with a straightener?

with damp hair apply baby oil, and use an iron (yes an actual iron used to iron close i do it one a week for work and it stays shiny and heallthier through out the week) then drench it with hair jell blow dry and then use a curling iron to turn hair in or style.

Tips for straightening my hair with a straightener?

Ceramic straighteners are the best. But you don't even need one really. Try just blow drying the hair making the air go straight down. Most people hold the dryer out to the side and this fluffs and frizzes the hair. Also, do not towel dry your hair! Only pat it a bit. Whichever way you do it be sure to condition your hair regularly. Even if you have oily hair just do the ends. And after you straighten or blow straight you MUST use a smoothing serum or light putty to fight humidity. Or else you have wasted your time straightening.

TIP: The IS a difference in the shampoo you buy at WalMart and the Salon. Invest in something that doesn't list alcohol as one of the first main ingredients. I recommend Biolage. If you MUST get it from WalMart 'Moisture Vive' by L'oreal is good as is Infusium.

SunSilk is not good and neither is White Rain, Pantene(!),Prell or Sauve.
