How to take care of hair after straightening it?

I've started straightening my hair every other day because I don't like it when my hair is all curly or wavy...I just wanted to have a new look.

Anyways, I heard that straightening your hair kills it by sucking all of the moisture out. How can I take care of it, like if I used a conditioner every single day and did a hot oil treatment once a week, will that help any?

My hair is naturally wavy and somewhat curly, I have layers, bangs, and my hair is auburn-brown.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Yes, what you heard about the damage it can do to your hair is right, hot metal plates will really damage your hair.

No matter how many times you condition it, you will still cause some hair damage each time you do your hair, but, like you said, using a really good conditioner everyday, straightening every other day, and using a hot oil treatment once a week sounds like a very good idea. It will help minimize damage, but still, damage will be done.

Just keep your hair up in a bun or ponytail on the days that you don't do your hair.

Good luck!

ALWAYS use conditioner.

I would also buy a leave in conditer too, it helps.

As long as you take good care of your hair, your hair will be fine.

Use a spray designed to protect your hair from the heat before straightening it. I use Lush conditioners specially designed for 'processed' hair, to help repair it. Also, once in a while, give your hair a rest, to avoid making it permanently damaged.
