Permanent straightening or flat ironing?

Is it actually better to get your hair chemically straightened so you don't have to do it every morning for like 30 minutes for my hair. If so how long does it normally last %26amp; cost?

Or is it better to just keep blow drying and straightening it EVERYDAY. I do that %26amp; have it dyed %26amp; blahh. It's a mess.

I'm really interested in the chemically straight it seems like it'd help.

Thankssss. :)

if you can choose...take the time to do the flat iron...you will save so much chemical process on your hair. Chemical straightening is the worst possible thing you can do to your hair. This is going to sound bad...but if you are white and have Caucasian hair...that really is the worst thing you can do to it and can make it thin, crack, burn, split and break off. Ethnic hair can withstand this process better then Caucasian hair does, because the cortex of the hair is much thicker and stronger. A lot of times too...the chemical doesn't take as well as you would like and you still have to use a flat iron in spots.

Don't do it girl...go spend that money on a manicure or facial...or both and flat iron your hair...you will thank yourself for it in the long run.

Im not sure about all that, but what I do know is that you have to wait 2 months from the last time you dyed ur hair, before you chemically straighten it.

this one chick at my school bleached her hair %26amp; two weeks later she chemically straightened it, and her hair fell out and she had to get a boy hair cut.

do not get a perm just buy a straightener i got a perm around 3 years ago to make my hair straight paid $250 and it did not really make it that straight my hair looked all dry and it began to fall out

it really scared me

just buy a good expensive ceramic straighter try sally's beauty supply store

btw i'm a cosmetologist and this will cause even more damage than getting a spiral perm

If you have it chemically staightened, soon as it grows you get the wavey root. Do you have a good straightener, like ceramic ghd's. Your putting lots of chemicals on your hair, cant do it any good

well it does do allot of damage to the hair, so i would not reccomend it, but if you really want to get it permanently straight, it would cost anywhere from $50-$500. It lasts untill your hair grows back. Its really the same as a perm, only straight.

I'd advise against chemical straightening. Especially if you've already been coloring and straightening your hair everyday. It's a pretty harsh treatment on hair. And if you have very curly hair, it's not going to be bone straight anyways.

What I tell my clients to do is try to wash your hair every other day. This helps the natural oils condition your hair and look healthier. Try to flat iron every other day and do a touch up where needed. Always use a heat protectant like a shine serum or straightening gloss.

Once the hair is straightened it can't be reversed. You continue to get touch ups as the new growth comes. I knew a few people who had the japanese straightening and said they'd never do it again. Their hair took forever to grow out natural and it wasn't the same for a long time.

If your hair is already blah from coloring it, definitely dont chemically straighten it. You should just flat iron it as little as possible, but if you want to do it every day, you would have to deep condition your hair at least once a week. you can do that by loading dry hair with conditioner, put on a plastic hair wrap, and sit outside in the sun for one hour.

and for the straightener, buy a wet to straight one so you dont have to also blow dry your hair. i use one and im pretty much obsessed.

hope i helped!

DO NOT use chemicals on your hair!!!! Or a flat iron. My hair is not naturally "Afro kinky", but it is extremely curly. I've tried the chemicals and the iron; you'll KILL your HAIR!! I dicovered in 1998 in a hair solon in Greenwich Village in NYC that what you want is to "BLOW_DRY your hair STRAIGHT!! Yes! It can be done, but I guess a lot of people don't know about blow-drying hair straight. It takes them about 50 minutes to 1 hour and 10 minutes to do my hair; and the cost can be anywhere from $25 to $50, depending where you go. Once you've had your hair blown straight, Put a hat on when it rains, and when it's humid out, I twist my hair into a pony tail and roll it up into a bun. That way it will not get frizzy, and it will last about a month. Oh, yeah; contrary to what some people say, unless you work in a very dirty environment, you don't need to wash your hair!! If your hair is long, at least 3 inches above the waist, it takes about 3 weeks for the natural oils to reach your ends. If you wash it even once a week, you'll notice that your hair will "BREAK" very easily, because by washing and drying your hair too frequently your drying-out and "DAMAGING" your hair. So go ask a salon to "BLOW-DRY YOUR HAIR STRAIGHT!!

i want to kno the same thing, i spend a crap load of time every day on my hair, it's really long and gots tons of layers. but, i think it's better to just straighten by hand, but you don't have to wash it every day (unless it gets really greesy) cuz it drys out your scalp.

Permanent straightening or flat ironing?

I've used chemical straighteners before. They work really well, but dry out your hair. I only did it that way because I was too lazy to flat iron every day, and plus it was short and didn't really show frizz. If you can stand to flat iron it, I would say continue with that.

Permanent straightening or flat ironing?

Chemically straightening your hair doesn't make it perfectly straight so there is still wave and it still needs to be straightened after every shower if you want it to be as straight as it is when you do it by hand. also chemically straightening your hair really really dries out the hair so dyes won't hold as well if you don't majorly moisturize your hair, shampoo and conditioner, and possibly use moisture treatments.

Personally i would recommend that you keep doing it your self because even if you do get it done chemically you are still going to have to take time every morning to get it fully straight.
