Heat protectors can be bought in beauty supply stores, and probably most drug stores or big-box stores.

What a heat protector does is leave a very fine coat of protection on the shaft of your hair, which will dissipate when heat is applied. It comes in several forms- while sprays are probably the most popular form, there are also spray glossers, cremes, and so forth.

Beyond the Zone makes a good spray-on one, and ceramic silk makes a good creme. While most are made to be used by blow dryers, flat irons, AND curling irons, you will occasionally see ones that are specified.

Best products that I've found to use just as protectants are Nexxus, John Frieda, and V05. You can find these products anywhere.
