Depends. Do you want one that will last. For Special occasions only? Or a heavy duty, I will use everyday one? I myself use a straightener everyday and therefor I purchased one with ion plates. They don't dry your hair out so bad and give you split ends. When I was in 7th grade like 3 years ago, my hair was super poofy and had split ends cuz I bought a $20 revlon one. The cheap ones work great for special occasions, but if you want a good one for everyday use, go with a $100 one. It's worth it in the end. Less trips to the salon. Chi is a really good brand if thats what your look for. Hot Tools is a good one too for about $60. It's your call

you could do it yourself. just go to wal-mart or k-mart or something and get a perm. They're called Just for Me, or African Pride, or TCB, or just ask someone that works in cosmetics at wal-mart or k-mart. The perms are pretty cheap, compared to a salon, and the instructions come in the perm kit box. This will make your hair very pretty and straight. i use them all of the time.

If you mean with chemicals (permanent straightening) at a salon, then it'll be probly around $200 for a permanent perm. It'll last pretty long. I got one for like $250 cause my hair is long (6 in. below my shoulder). My hair is thick tho and I have to straighten it after I wash it, but with a good straightener and a perm, you'll have perfect hair.

But if you mean a hair straightening for a day (the salon will straighten your hair for you with a flat iron), then it'll be around $20-$40, depending on what place you go to.

You can do the perm yourself with a kit that you could buy at a store tho. Or you can get a chi straightener or something, which is a bit pricey, and straighten it yourself.
