PERMANENTS
Ordinarily, a permanent or a body wave might be the obvious answer to hair that has taken a wrong turn, but it isn't during pregnancy. For one thing, hair responds unpredictably under the influence of pregnancy hormones; a permanent might not take at all, or might result in an unflattering frizz instead of bouncy waves. For another thing, the chemical solutions used in permanents are absorbed through the scalp into the bloodstream, so there are questions about the safety of their use during pregnancy. So far, studies of the effects of such chemicals on the fetus have been extremely reassuring: no link has been found between the use of permanents and the development of birth defects. But since more study will be necessary before these substances are completely exonerated, the very cautious may wish to stay "straight" until after delivery. Don't worry if you have already gotten a perm. Just abstain from further use until after having your baby.
RELAXERS
Though there's no evidence that hair relaxers are dangerous during pregnancy, there's no proof that they're competely safe, either. And since they contain strong chemicals that can be absorbed throught the skin - and because your hair may react differently and strangely to the chemicals now that you're pregnant - it's probably safest to let your hair do what comes naturally. Do not worry if you have already used a relaxer. Just abstain from further use until after having your baby.
COLORING
Though some extra-prudent practitioners still advise their patients to stay away from hair dyes when they're expecting, studies have not linked these products to birth defects. Apparently, so little of the chemicals in the dyes is absorbed through the skin, it's not likely that it would have any adverse affect. But, while you may not have to worry about the impact on your baby if you continue coloring your hair, you may have to worry about the impact on your appearance. For hormonal reasons, your hair may react differently when you're expecting - leaving you with a color you may not have expected.
Can hair straightening/relaxing treatment can harm the baby while inside the womb?
i dont know about straighting, but i know that relaxing and coloring should be stopped until after the baby is born. ive read many articles, and my doctor told me the same, but you should talk to your doctor before relaxing or coloring, because the chemicals could be dangerous. the effect may be small, but you should make sure. good luck
Can hair straightening/relaxing treatment can harm the baby while inside the womb?
If it involves ANY kind of CHEMICALS being put in your hair, YES, it CAN harm the baby. Consult your Dr. if you don't believe me.
