Are there different levels of hair straightening chemicals? The one i used didnt last long..?

I have curly, thick almost afro-like hair that i am trying to straighten. I used a chemical product that lasted for maybe a week, and my hair went right back to the way it was. The only difference between now and before is my hair is as straight as it was when i used the product ONLY when its wet, then it goes back to curly and thick. My question is, are there different chemicals that vary in strength, like basically can i find a stronger chemical that will PERMENATLY work? Thanks.

There Are Different Types Of Relaxers Some More "Potent" Than Others. If You Used A "Sodium Hydroxide" (LYE) Type You Can't Relax The Same Hair Again. If You Used A Lithium Or Magnesium Hydroxide, You MIGHT Be Able To Relax Again (In A Month) IF Your Hair Is In Good Condition. Same For Guanidine Carbonate. If You Used A "Thio" (Ammonium Thioglycolate) Relaxer You Can Relax Again (If Your Hair And Scalp Are In Good Condition) In About Two Weeks. If You Used An "Ammonium Bisulfite/Bisulfate" Relaxer You Can Relax Again In About Two Weeks. Check The Ingredient Listing Of The Product You Used.
